About me
Hello, I’m Maria Paula, the founder behind Muérgana Ceramics. I am anthropologist born and raised in Colombia, I love art, social culture and I am a cinephile and melomane. I moved to The Netherlands two years ago due to love reasons :). My small pottery business is based in the city of Amersfoort.
Muérgana Ceramics started in the end of November of 2023 as a hobby and slowly turn up into a small business. It started in my house which I turn as a small studio and then decided to move to a bigger studio that I rent. I started creating hand build pieces and then make the big step to a pottery wheel, so now a lot of things are a mix between hand build and wheel thrown pieces. I enjoy creating a lot of different things and don’t find myself yet creating same kind of pieces and colors, so for now you will find maybe the same piece but in different colors, patterns, glazings, etc.
Every piece is hand made in my studio with stoneware clay and is fired up to 1200 degrees. The whole process of each piece can take up to 4 weeks from stage of clay to a final product that you can use.I try to make every piece in the most careful and delicate way but still is a handmade piece so is normal that you can find some imperfections in it, which for me makes it unique.
Thanks for being here,
Maria Paula.
